Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween!! It's one of the Mister's favorite holidays so in honor of him (and the fact that he is missing our VERY FIRST Halloween in our VERY FIRST home), I present you with this... Mr. Benjamin Franklin himself circa 1992-ish.

To my ghouls and goblins in Singapore- We wish you a very "Spoooooky" and "Creeeeeepy" Halloween!

Tyler and I have been dying to dress up as Sugar Skulls for the past two years but haven't followed through so when we got bored on Saturday, this is what we decided to do. Gus was a fan- are you?!

Lately....

My goodness, we have been busy! I have not had time to tell y'all about anything house or wedding related. Good news... here's an update {via instagram}

1. House is painted! Isn't it presh?! We are so excited about it... we literally walk outside every morning and stare! How lame is that?! More house updates to come...
2. Boogie Child- look at that grin! We have a park at the end of our street and I am starting to think that it is her idea of "Heaven"!
3. Sweet Perry Louise taking in Singapore. I cannot wait to see the little walking wonder!
4. Ryan Bingham concert with friends.
5. Tyler's first Touchdown Club event- it's so fun that my good friend Trey is a new member with Ty!
6. Something I have been thinking about...
7. DATE NIGHT! We love Wednesday nights! Tyler likes to "break up the week" so we make sure we go out and celebrate us every Wednesday... not that we don't every other night too!
8. Texas Tech vs. TCU- we wrecked 'em!
9. Lola in "Heaven"... look at her! She is happy about Fall!

We are happy as clams and loving every second of "lately"! We have lots to do around the house between now and Friendsgiving/Thanksgiving so stay tuned although you may not get a blog update until um.... March? I kid....

Happy Tuesday Lovies! xoxo

p.s.- wedding photos will be here any day....

Sneak Peek #1

We are hours away from having a fully re-painted exterior... that is, if the guy will ever leave. I won't get started but he has been a BIG pain in my side.

On a brighter note, here is a sneak peek of the exterior changes. We've got a new mailbox that will be fully functional once we pick out a new door and get it installed and the new lantern is up thanks to the hubs! So, without further ado....

We repainted the entire exterior- the body is Sherwin Williams "Absolute Beige" and the trim is Sherwin Williams "Extreme White". We decided to add some pop with the front door but the jury is still out on the final color selection. Turquoise is still pulling us close so when the new door arrives we may be switching it up!

We've bought our pots but we have yet to fill them. However, the yard is looking fantastic! That update will come with the overall reveal, i'd like to give the "girls" some time to grow and take over the flower beds. I am a weirdo that likes to talk to the plants- I believe they are all girls because they are far too pretty to be boys.

I'll keep rambling if I don't cut myself off so stay tuned for more reveals. You should be seeing something on the interior color selections soon....

Change is a good thing!

We have had a whole lot of change going on... the biggest change yet is my new last name: Heather Robertson!!! It's kind of crazy and it is taking me some time to get used to using it but I do love the sound!! I guess this brings up the wedding... I PROMISE to post pictures soon. I haven't seen any of our photographers shots yet but from what Ashley (matron of honor) has posted I know they will be great! Here is a sneak peek of what she was able to capture! Click here for more on Ashley Sawtelle Photography!

Back to change- we are up to our eyeballs in to-do's and don't forgets! Here is a brief list of what we have going on and why we will both be MIA for a few days coming up...

1. We bought a house!
2. We are redoing said house!
3. We are moving into said house!

That's just the tip of the iceberg! So, yes we bought a house this summer. We closed the week before we left for the wedding. How is that for last minute?! We love the sweet little house but it had a definite need for some TLC which brings us to redoing the house. We are on our way to getting it where we'd like to start out. We have refinished the floors, repainted the entire inside and are installing light fixtures in some of the rooms tomorrow. We have quite a bit of additional work to: Kitchen Redo, Guest Bath Redo (immediate), Master Bath & Closet Redo, Fence and Gate Redo and Mantle Redo. That is a lot of Redo.... but we will get it done. Stay tuned- this will be a long process and will take quite a few posts to get us there. The guest bath, fence and mantle will come first. We are hoping to have all of this complete by Thanksgiving/Christmas.  There are cleaners there today working like maniacs to get it move-in ready so we will have to post updated paint photos later but for now, here is the before!

The Living Room
As I mentioned, the floors have been redone. This was pre-floors (those are stain samples) and there is that pesky fireplace. Definitely stay tuned for that renovation. It will be a game changer! There is no light in this room so we are looking forward to adding that soon. The fixture gets picked up today! (Don't mind Lola, she managed to get herself or her shadow in every picture. She has a need to stay between me and whomever else is in the room at all times.)

The Dining Room
This room has seen quite a color change- I hope y'all are ready for it! It will knock your socks off! We will be changing fixtures and adding new window treatments as well. We are really excited to look for a dining room table- we are really liking one in particular but we will have to wait and see if it makes its debut at 423! We found some great chairs from Gypsy Soul Interiors that we will update to coordinate with new color scheme and we have got to find the perfect rug and accent furniture. Lots to do in here too....

The Kitchen
I hate this room. I hate everything about it except the dishwasher. It is pretty awesome but everything else will go at some point. I have lots of ideas but we are going to turn to my awesomely creative brother for final design decisions. For now, it has been repainted and those awful shades are gone. It's already a thousand times better!

Guest Room #1
This room was plain but when you see the new color, you will see that it has POP! Tyler and I both have very ecclectic taste so we are going to use this room to showcase all of our odds and ends. You should see the heads he got me as an anniversary gift one year- they are incredible and incredibly weird. They are named Juan-Carlos and Esmerelda. We also have bull horns, a budha table and various other things that will look awesome in here. Come visit- this is your room!
(Guest Room #2 will be repainted and filled when we have a body to fill it with... if you get my drift. For now it is storage)

Master Bedroom
I love the new paint colors in here. It will be so relaxing once we move in and we don't have to look at this strange shade of taupe and green. We will be replacing the fan and the french doors soon. The doors will be stained to match the floors and a new bed is on its way. We are both excited about this room- it will be a welcome change!

Aside from all of the interiors, Tyler is hard at work getting the outside up to par! We have a new lantern for the front porch and are in the process of picking new exterior paint colors and a new door. The painting starts next week- we are MOST excited about this and here's why... a glimpse of what we are currently working with!

My sweet mom offered to help us with our yard for our wedding/house warming gift so by next weekend it will already look better. We are planning on adding large pots around the front door and a Japanese maple to the front bed. The backyard is quite a scene but i'll leave that until we get started on it.

All in all, it has been a really fun process and we are excited to share it with you! Check back soon for more updates!

Her Name was Lola

and she turned 8 today!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST DOG IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!

We had quite the morning playing birthday chase.... tonight she gets pupcakes and pupsicles. (Excuse my puffy face... I slept face down all night. Oopsie!)

Oh, and pardon Lola's grey face. She hadn't put her make up on yet.

July 19, 2012

ok seriously?

I am getting to the point where I feel like time is a big joke. how is it this close to the wedding? I am beyond consumed... as in, it is really hard to do anything else! poor tyler- he and I have major plans for DIY for the next ten days. he must really, really love me!

I have been very fortunate to find some incredible vendors to help my ideas come to life- I'll share a few in case you find yourself needing invitations or girly goodie sacks!

Save-the-dates and Miscellaneous Invitations:

I worked with Kimberly at Swoozie's in Preston Center to design my Save the Dates, Bridal Brunch Invites and Menu, Welcome Bag Information and Programs. She is wonderful and helps you come up with exactly what you're looking for!

Wedding Invitations:

Sweet Kimberly left for maternity leave just as I was getting ready to start the dubious task of designing my wedding invitations... sad moment for me. However, she pointed me in the direction of Betty with Scribbles and Swirls to do my custom calligraphy. Little did I know, Betty was just starting her letter press business (her prices are insanely reasonable... makes the fabulous paper worth it!). Once I finalized my design, Betty printed them on fabulous paper and provided custom envelope liners (paper from paper source) to complete the look. I found vintage cactus postage stamps on Etsy and had a wax seal made with my Niece's hand drawn Milagro Heart! The whole thing came together nicely... I hope you enjoyed getting yours in the mail!

Bachelorette Party Cookies:

I had a wonderful bachelorette weekend! Courtney did the BEST job and I will never, ever forget it! We ordered cookies from Hayley Cakes and Cookies and they turned out beyond my expectations! Check them out!!!!

There are about a billion other things we did to lead up to the wedding, but for now that is it! After the big day, I will share some of the details and exactly what it took to get me there!!!

See you in Santa Fe....

June 4, 2012

let the countdown begin...

it's officially TWO months until the big day! the days of calm and collected are now over... i'm constantly remembering something that slipped my mind the day before! Aside from the nerves and the forgetfulness, i am SO excited!!

i ran across this timeline a while back- it is basically the evolution of the wedding band and what it means to various religious and ethnic groups. it's pretty neat. here's to hoping that our wedding bands turn out to be what we asked for....

May 18, 2012

On the road again...

we're headed to Burkburnett for our first Wedding Shower! We are so excited and feel so fortunate to have so many people rooting for us!!

this made me think of tyler... he's always asking for Pancakes.. or Paaaancakes/pOncakes. maybe if he calls me darling...

hope y'all have a fab weekend! xoxo

i saw this today and it spoke to me... i need to lower my voice. i don't always scream, but i do scream often enough for this to hit home. i'm adopting this principle starting now.

i hope y'all have a happy mother's day and an extra fabulous weekend.

When Mondays get me down, I make sure I do something for me. Something that makes me sparkle... today it's the gym so that I'll have a little extra sparkle on August 4th!

The Beetle Book

I love bugs. I do not like them crawling on me, but I love the science of bugs. They are truly fascinating creatures. I am lucky enough to have found someone who shares my admiration, so hopefully we will create a child that feels the same. I'm blabbing on about fictional kids because I bumped into a post about this book- The Beetle Book by Steve Jenkins.

In the book, Jenkins covers a little bit of everything. He chats about history and basic anatomy as well as a typical life cycle. He talks about every kind of Beetle but keeps descriptions short and discusses only their most interesting fact. I cannot wait to possess this book and I am more excited to share its pictures and pages with babes.

My dad would be proud.

Mantra of the Week

As much as I'd like to daydream about the wedding and honeymoon- I will keep reminding myself of this.

They're Here...

Our engagement pictures arrived on Monday and we are thrilled with them! Erin Woolsey of ee photography was amazing to work with and we are so excited to share these with everyone!

Happy Weekend!

Sneak Peek

Patience is not something that comes easy for us. We are working on it, we really are... but when it came to our pictures the suspense finally got the best of me! I nagged the photographer for a couple of shots to hold us over until we get our disc and she posts on her blog.

So, here they are...

I have to say that I am pretty fond of them. Two more weeks.....

Hope your week is fabulous.

Happy Wednesday!

Daydreaming

I am sitting at my desk which is fully covered by papers with numbers and information that at the moment mean nothing to me. I'm daydreaming of a beautiful weekend and wishing we could pack the three of us up and head to a river for a real weekend away. Instead, its raining and dark and our weekend is filled with birthdays and housework (and hopefully a whole lot of sleep).

Wouldn't I look fab rocking an Hermes scarf in this handsome fella, complete with my initial?! I think so. Oh, wait. Is that a Louis V trunk sticking out of the top? Why yes it is...

Happy almost weekend. xoxo

Love Love Love: Day 29

Day 29: Tyler.

I chose Tyler as my topic for Day 29 for one reason. He does not like or understand the 29th day of February. It really messes with him so I thought I'd give him a reason to enjoy it!

I am incredibly lucky to have Tyler in my life. He has the best laugh and cure the worst the day in seconds. It's funny when I look back over the past three years. They've been wonderful and bizarre at the same time. We often dwell on why things happen, but I can tell you that I am not so concerned with they "why" anymore. I am so thankful for the fact that they did happen and that each day is better than the one before.

We've got big plans for 2012 and I am lucky to share them with him.

Happy Leap Year y'all! Hope you have a fabulous day!

xoxo

Love Love Love: Day 28

Day 28: Monograms.

I love a good monogram... lucky for me they are more popular than ever at the moment. I am really into taking monograms to the next level. How beautiful is the bedding with the orange applique? Luxury Monograms has their own take on this design. Oh, and who doesn't dream of monogrammed Louis Vuitton Luggage?!

Speaking of... what will my new monogram be? HBR or HER? I just love my middle name...

Love Love Love: Days 23, 24, 25 & 26

Day 23: Black & White Photos.

I love a good black & white photo. They're timeless and accent any type of decor perfectly. I am very much looking forward to a good B&W of Ty and I from our engagement shoot. I hope Erin Woolsey is reading....

Day 24: Boxers.

I'm not shy about my obsession with Boxer Babies. I LOVE them. I truly believe that Boxers are the best family members. Not only are their pudgy faces too much for me to handle, they have the biggest hearts and never forget how much they love you. Seriously, they are more obsessed with you than you've ever been with anyone or anything.

Day 25: Wedding Planning.

I am shy about wedding planning. I don't want to bore anyone with all the flowers and blogs and nonsense that I look at on a daily basis, but I have to say that I love planning our wedding. Don't get me wrong... I'm ready for Aug. 4th to get here but I do love soaking it up everyday. Thankfully, Tyler isn't opposed to talking about it and has been known to plan a thing or two himself. We are pretty excited y'all!

Day 26: Honeymoon Dreaming.

As excited as we are for the wedding, I think we are doubly excited for the Honeymoon! Although I don't know where we're going, I know that sunshine, sand and fruity (strong) drinks will be involved. Honey, thanks for planning something fab.

Day 27: Tuesdays.

Why do I love Tuesdays?? Because Monday is over!! It's that kind of day y'all! See you tomorrow!
(This cartoon was on my dad's refrigerator at his office my entire life.. I have it now!)

Love Love Love: Days 18, 19, 20, 21 & 22

I'm way behind so bear with me...

Day 18: Mi Cocina.

I know, I know.. not real mexican food. Whatever. I have had some fab memories at the Highland Park Village location- most importantly our first date. Typical, I know, but we wanted to do something low key and not intimidating so we had fajitas and tossed back a couple of mambos... how's that for letting loose?! You should visit the HP MiCo during the holidays, those lights are definitely something to talk about.

Day 19: Statement Necklaces.

I love the idea of a bold necklace with a plain top or strapless dress. I'm currently searching for the perfect addition to my rehearsal dinner dress- check out this bride. That is a bold little number.

Day 20: Buddhas.

My Mimi had a moderate obsession with buddhas and it seems she has passed it down to me. My favorite items in my house are the buddha lamps of hers that I have always coveted. I've also got them stashed about in hiding places- we could all use a little good luck now and then- if you find one, give it a good rub!

Day 21: Backyards and Patios.

Spring is almost here which means it is almost patio season. Tyler and I are also searching for the perfect house- one of our main "musts" is a good backyard. Check out those beauties, hello dream world.

Day 22: Vince.

Vince is my favorite. There isn't another clothing line that describes me better plus their jeans fit me perfectly, even the length of the cropped style is perfect. Although Sussie's sells Vince and my heart will always belong to my mom, I had the pleasure of building a Vince location in Highland Park Village. How fun, right?! My two loves: Construction + Clothing.
